# Sign in and approve this computer

Log in from the welcome screen and confirm this computer in your browser. Then pair it with your other computers so they can work on each other.

*Where in Studio: Studio → Settings → Devices & security*

*Last updated: 2026-10-25*

Signing in connects this computer to your Kelrova account, so your projects, chats and settings sync between your computers. It is optional: without an account, everything stays on this computer. Signing in happens in your browser, and you confirm this computer there before you come back.

Signing in does not let your other computers act on this one. That takes a second step, pairing, which you do once per pair of computers.

## Sign in on first launch

1. **Choose how to start**

The first launch opens **Welcome to Kelrova**. Under **Get started**, choose **Log in**, or **Create an account** if you have none. To use Studio without an account, choose **Continue without an account**; you can sign in later from the account menu.

2. **Finish in the browser**

Your browser opens. Log in or create the account. If the browser does not open, the app shows the link with a **Copy** button.

3. **Approve this computer**

The browser shows **Connect Kelrova desktop** with the account it will use. Check the account and the **Workspace**, then choose **Connect**. If it is the wrong account, choose **Not you? Switch account**.

4. **Back in the app**

You are signed in automatically. If the account has no workspace yet, the app asks you to **Create your workspace**: enter a name and choose **Create**, or pick a workspace you already belong to.

The workspace you pick in the browser stays in use on this computer until you sign in on it again.

## Sign in later

If you started without an account, open the account menu from your avatar at the bottom of the navigation rail and choose **Log in & enable sync**. After you confirm in the browser, Studio offers to bring the projects and chats you made on this computer into the synced workspace:

- **Bring my work** copies them over.
- **Start fresh** opens the synced workspace without them.
- **Later** keeps you in the local workspace for now.

If Studio asks you to quit and reopen it, do so to finish the switch.

To sign out, choose **Sign out** in the same menu. Studio removes your credentials, closes the synced workspace and continues in local mode.

## Approve your computers for each other

Each computer keeps its own list of approved devices. Only an approved device can read protected content on a computer or work on it: run chats, commands and terminals there. Being signed in to the same account is not enough, and you add devices to the list only by pairing.

You pair from the computer that wants access. The other computer must open its pairing window first.

*Studio → Settings → Devices & security*

1. **Open pairing on the other computer**

On the computer you want to work on, open **Settings → Devices & security**, choose **This device**, and choose **Add device** next to **Who can work on this device**. The pairing window stays open for 3 minutes. On a server without a screen, run `kelrova access pair` in a terminal there instead.

2. **Request access from this computer**

On this computer, open **Settings → Devices & security**, choose the other computer in the list and choose **Request access**. A six-digit code appears in the dialog. The code is shown only here.

3. **Type the code on the other computer**

The other computer shows the request with the name it was sent with and an **unverified** badge, since the name alone proves nothing. Type the code there and choose **Approve**. This computer then confirms that the other one approved your access, and from then on it can run chats, commands and terminals there.

If you choose **Request access** while the other computer's window is closed, Studio shows **Start pairing on** that computer, with both ways to open it. Open it, then choose **Try again**.

> **Warning: Only use a code you started**
>
> Type a code only from a pairing screen you opened yourself, never from a message or an email. After three wrong or expired codes in a row, pairing locks for 15 minutes.

To let the other computer work on this one as well, pair the other way round. Approved devices are listed under **This device**, where you can rename or remove them; on another computer's pane, **Remove my access** removes this computer from its list. [Approved devices and signatures](https://kelrova.com/docs/studio/trust/approved-devices) explains what approval protects.
