# Plans and the trial

What Basic, Go, Pro and Max include, how the 14-day trial works, how to change plan and what happens when a payment fails or a plan ends.

Each organization has one plan. It sets how many members can join, which model tiers and scan types are available, and how much usage is included each month.

## The plans

Included usage equals the monthly price, and unused usage does not roll over. There are no seat fees, no yearly plans and no metered overage. Prices are what you see at checkout, before any tax; tax is added there. See [Pricing](https://kelrova.com/pricing) for the comparison.

## The Basic trial

Basic has a 14-day trial, and checkout asks for a card. The trial is offered on a personal workspace's first checkout: when it applies, the Basic card shows **Start 14-day trial**. A team organization, or one that has had a subscription before, has no trial and is charged at once. The page shows the date the trial ends and the date the card is charged.

- Choosing a higher plan during the trial ends it and charges you now.
- Moving to a lower plan during the trial is not available.
- Go, Pro and Max have no trial and charge at once.

## Change plan

1. **Open the plans**

   On Billing, choose **Plan & usage**, then **Upgrade**, **Change plan** or **Choose a plan**. The button depends on your current plan.

2. **Choose the new plan**

   Choose **Upgrade** or **Downgrade** on its card. Cards show **Current plan** and **Scheduled** where they apply.

An upgrade applies at once and charges the prorated difference. A downgrade applies at the next renewal; until then the page says when the plan changes.

A change can be refused, and the page says why:

- Another plan change is already scheduled.
- You have more members and pending invites than the new plan allows. Remove some first.
- An Adversary scan schedule is set, and the new plan does not include Adversary.
- Your organization's default model tier is not included in the new plan.

Only people with billing management access can change the plan. Others see the plan but not the buttons; see [Members and roles](https://kelrova.com/docs/organization/members) for how to grant it.

## Plan states

The plan shows one status beside its name.

| Status | What it means |
| --- | --- |
| Trial | The Basic trial is running. |
| Active | The plan is in force. |
| Past due | The last payment failed. |
| Needs plan | The trial ended or the plan was canceled. |

With **Past due** or **Needs plan**, new scans and scheduled scans cannot start. Scans already running finish, and findings and settings stay available. A failed payment shows **Payment failed. Update your payment method.** Once the payment goes through, scans start again. For **Needs plan**, choose a plan to continue.
